A beautiful vintage leaf pin featuring guilloche enameled gilt sterling silver by the master Norwegian modernist artist, Aksel Holmsen. In a graceful double leaf design, the brooch has detailed enameling in a rich turquoise blue green. Circa 1940s to early1950s. The item is hallmarked with Aksel Holmsen hallmark and, “NORWAY”, “STERLING”,  “925S” and measures 5.5 cms/2-1/4 inches long x 2 cms/3/4 inches wide. It’s condition is excellent to mint with no damage and pristine enamel finish. ‘C’ clasp closes securely at the back.

HISTORY: Aksel Holmsen (1873 – 1962) was from Sandefjord, Norway. He apprenticed with world renowned David Andersen from 1889 to 1892, continuing to work with David Andersen after completing his training. In 1904 he established a silver and enamel workshop in Storgaten 7 in Oslo, Norway. He is recognised for his highly valued clean modernist designs and masterful enamel work.
